Основне завдання науково-технічного перекладу полягає в гранично
ясному і точному доведенні до читача інформації, що повідомляється. Це
досягається логічно обґрунтованим викладенням фактичного матеріалу.
Стиль науково-технічної літератури можна визначити як формально-
логічний. Слід зазначити, що широке та інтенсивний розвиток наукового
стилю призвело до формування в його рамках численних жанрів, таких,
як: стаття, монографія, підручник, патентний опис (опис винаходу),
реферат, анотація, документація, каталог, довідник, специфікація,
інструкція, реклама (що має ознаки та публіцистичного стилю). Кожному
жанрові притаманні свої індивідуально-стильові риси, однак вони не
порушують єдність наукового стилю, наслідуючи його загальні ознаки і
особливості.
