Мукачево приваблює туристів своєю винятковою історичною спадщиною, але пам’ятки старовини — не єдине, заради чого приїжджають до міста чисельні гості. Сюди їдуть гурмани та поціновувачі доброго вина.

Побувати у Мукачевому і не відвідати замок “Паланок” — все одно, що гуляти Парижем і не побачити Ейфелевої вежі. Але грізну фортецю краще залишити “на десерт”, а своє знайомство зі старовинним містечком почати з його центру.
В центрі розташована пішохідна зона: затишний бульвар, площа з міською ратушею. Ратуша була зведена лише у 1906 році, але над площею також височіє Кафедральний костел Святого Мартіна — покровителя міста. Поряд з ним міститься готична каплиця Святого Йосипа, оздоблена середньовічними розписами. На площі можна побачити пам’ятник святим Кирилу та Мефодію — тим файним хлопцям, які створили для нас кирилицю.
