Співробітники станції звернули увагу на обдарованого юнака. Саме тут Д.К. Заболотний розпочав дослідження в галузі медичної бактеріології. У 1891 р. за підтримки кількох професорів йому було дозволено скласти екстерном державні іспити в університеті і він отримав диплом 1-го ступеня. За наукову роботу «Мікроби снігу» Д. Заболотному було присвоєно ступінь магістра природничих наук.

The station's staff viewed the gifted young man. It is here that d. k. Zabolotny began research in the field of medical bacteriology. In 1891, the support of several professors he was allowed to compose the exams without attending lectures at the University and he received the diploma of the 1st degree. The scientific work "the Germs of snow" d. Zabolotnomu was awarded the degree of master of natural sciences.

In 1891, with the support of several professors he was allowed to make external state exams at the University and he received his 1st degree. According to scientific work "Microbes snow" D.
