Fauna of America presented in our language the following words of Indian origin: Cougar, âǵuar, Loon, Cayman, oposum (marsupial being mammal), guanaco (animal, similar to a camel), ìǵuana (great lizard). Borrowed Indian names of birds: Condor-American Vulture, ARA is a genus of parrots, Rhea-American ostrich, Hummingbird. There are in the English language and the names of the plants of Indian origin: pineapple (Nana), maize (another name for corn), edible plants cassava, yams. Against the Indians borrowed the word Totem (translated-"his race")-animal, plant, object or phenomenon of nature, which is a religious symbol. From adventure novels we know words: Tomahawk-battle stick or axe, pìroga-narrow, long boat, canoe-boat, Pampa pampas-steppe, lodge-like tent, quipu-vuzlikove writing.As you can see, our language has absorbed in themselves cultural achievements of many Nations and retains traces of mediated contacts with the many languages of the world.
