У 1999 році за ініціативою директора театру започатковано проведення театрального фестивалю «Мельпомена Таврії», який одразу ж привернув увагу багатьох діячів культури. Через чотири роки фестиваль набув статус «Міжнародного». Фестиваль, який одразу ж привернув увагу багатьох діячів культури, зробив театр творчим майданчиком, де зустрічаються драматурги й режисери України й близького зарубіжжя, директори український театрів.
