їхню думку, це є нечесним і вбиває клин між одними й іншими. З їхньої точки зору, зарплата, розмір якої
недостатній для утримання навіть домашньої тварини на Заході, принижує почуття гідності українсько-
го працівника, хай навіть для України ця сума і є більшою. Як і слід було очікувати, найбільшу відразу
громадяни західних країн відчувають до таких хвороб суспільства як корупція, зловживання постійними
перевірками податкової інспекції та низький рівень комунальних послуг. Вони вважають, що країна, роз-
бещена влада якої допускає відключення електроенергії, спорадичні перебої у постачанні тепла, нестачу
холодної та гарячої води, при цьому перекладаючи власну вину на недоліки комунальної інфраструктури,
успадкованої від радянських часів, не може називатися цивілізованою. Іншими речами, які не сприймають
громадяни розвинутих країн, є такі різні явища як наявність привілейованих автомобільних номерів, від-
сутність гарних барів, погані дороги, наявність дискримінації, поганий телефонний зв’язок та збереження
символів тоталітарної епохи. Найбільше їх дивує той факт, що такі символи часто оголошуються пам’ят-
ками архітектури державного значення, що охороняються державою. Іноземцям здається, що це може, з
одного боку, відлякувати від України потенційних інвесторів, а з іншого, – сприяти відтоку молодих тала-
новитих українців з країни.
