Одним з досягнень київської міської адміністрації іноземці вважають зусилля, зосереджені на ремонті історичних будівель і вулиць міста, що змінили його обличчя. Найбільш очевидними були реставрація чи відновлення таких архітектурних скарбів як Михайлівський золотоверхий собор, Софіївська площа, Хрещатик, собор Успіння Києво-Печерської лаври та інших пам’яток. Хоча певні вади все ще залишаються. Та й різкої критики надмірної витрати коштів також вистачає. Іншим досягненням вважається введення доступного мобільного зв’язку, який почався після відомого тендеру середини 1990-х років, внаслідок чого тарифи на мобільний зв’язок і ціни на телефонні апарати (які інколи видаються і безкоштовно) стрімко впали, а кількість користувачів мобільного зв’язку в Україні досягла величезної цифри у 20 мільйонів, що відповідає європейським стандартам.
