Англо-український словник неологізм

Англо-український словник неологізмів" містить понад 2500 нових найбільш вживаних лексичних і фразеологічних одиниць, що ввійшли до складу англійської мови в XXI столітті, з їх відповідниками в українській мові і контекстами функціонування в різних сферах життя англомовного суспільства.

Англійська мова як і інші мови, не могла не відреагувати на зміни в суспільному житті носіїв, викликаних новими реаліями XXI сторіччя, подіями глобального масштабу. Якщо в 90-і роки XX сторіччя серед головних "постачальників" інновацій відзначали політику, мас-медіа й Інтернет, то на початку нового сторіччя інноваційні мовні процеси на лексико-семантичному рівні найактивніше відбувалися в тих сферах, що знаходяться під впливом таких макросоціальних чинників, як інформаційна революція, економічні перетворення, міжнародний тероризм і боротьба з ним, проблеми охорони навколишнього середовища, дискримінації в суспільстві.

Про темпи збагачення словникового складу англійської мови на початку нового сторіччя свідчить, наприклад, той факт, що тільки за січень 2002 року редакційна колегія словника Collins Gem English Pocket Dictionary зареєструвала 140 неологізмів. Якщо проаналізувати сучасні письмові джерела мови, можна помітити, що цілі речення можуть, в основному, складатися з нових слів і словосполучень: A former dot-commer working a McJob was listening to some headbangers while laying out the last of his dead presidents for longnecks and some less than heart-healthy Frankenfood. Важливим для дослідників процесів збагачення словникового складу є поняття "неологізм" (інновація). Виникає необхідність уточнення цього поняття. Визначення неологізмів як слів або зворотів, що створені для позна­чення нового (раніше невідомого) предмета або для вираження нового поняття, не можна вважати вичерпним, оскільки таке визначення включає далеко не всі різновиди інновацій. Використання інших критеріїв (денотативного, стиліс­тичного, лексикографічного) також не охоплює всіх неологізмів.

Хоча значна кількість нових мовних одиниць виникає для нових речей і явищ, тобто для відбиття нових понять, у той же час досить типовими слід вважати і випадки, коли одна і та ж річ, те саме нове явище має не одну назву. Більш того, для відбиття одного поняття, для визначення однієї речі, як буде показано далі, може існувати ціла серія, ціла низка найменувань. Це обумов­люється актуальністю певного поняття, його комплексною природою.

If we analyze contemporary written sources of the language, you will notice that the sentences may mainly consist of new words and word-combinations: A former dot-commer working a McJob was listening to some headbangers while laying out the last of his dead presidents for longnecks and some less than heart-healthy Frankenfood. (Houston Chronicle, July 2, 2003). Important for the researchers of the processes of enriching vocabulary composition is the concept of "neologism" (innovation). It is necessary to clarify the concept. The definition of neologìzmìv as words or language that is designed to encourage new (previously unknown) object or to express new concepts can not be considered exhaustive, insofar as this definition includes not all types of innovation. The use of other criteria (denotativnogo, stilìs energy, leksikografìčnogo) also do not cover all the neologìzmìv.
