Ви подорожували Україною, збирали фольклор. Як реагували люди?

– Селяни ніколи не бачили японців, але я говорив, принаймні намагався говорити, їхньою мовою – українською. Спершу довелося спілкуватися з ними через горілку. Потім потоваришували, їли сало. Поринули в українську традицію. Враження від людей було дуже приємне. Тому не боявся ходити сам по селах.

Побував в усіх областях, окрім Полтавщини, Сумщини, Луганщини і Криму. Під час Євро-2012 у Донецьку працював перекладачем. Спілкувався з усіма українською. Люди спершу сміялись, але всі гарно відповідали.

Чого вам не вистачає тут? За чим сумуєте?

– За якісним життям. У Японії зручно жити. У Києві, наприклад, важко знайти хорошу і свіжу рибу. Але мені подобається оселедець. В Японії є подібні, однак з оливою – немає. Це дуже смачно. Коли до мене звідти приїжджають, то всіх пригощаю.
