Серед видатних просвітителів ХУШ століття, які збагатили вітчизняну педагогіку, почесне місце належить Григорію Савичу Сковороді (1722-1794). Він перший в українській педагогіці в центрі уваги поставив дитину - її почуття, стосунки зі світом, її справи, нахили і обдарування; визначив мету гуманістичного процесу - формування "істинної-" людини: мислячої, чуйної, освіченої, зі світлим розумом, гарячими почуттями, підготовленої до праці задля її щастя і блага народу.
